BY-LAWS OF THE BACCHUS NETWORK

(Last updated June 30, 2005)

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP

Section I. The membership of BACCHUS shall consist of duly organized BACCHUS affiliates. BACCHUS affiliates may be formed at any institution of higher learning. Each active affiliate shall have one vote for all legislation, policy changes and other issues as they may affect the organization.

Section 2. All members of BACCHUS affiliates shall be associate members of BACCHUS. Associate members will be able to receive all benefits of BACCHUS as they pertain to chapter membership.

Section 3. The Board of Trustees shall establish standards for the recognition of a BACCHUS affiliate. The following criteria represent the minimum standards for recognition as a BACCHUS affiliate:

a. Each BACCHUS affiliate must subscribe to the purpose and policies of BACCHUS stated in these By-laws.

b. Each BACCHUS affiliate must be approved by the appropriate

authority of its College or University.

c. Each BACCHUS affiliate must be organized and have at least three

officers before a charter is granted. A Task Force model made up of

students and faculty and staff is acceptable for a charter.

Section 4. The President/CEO may, for good cause and after opportunity for hearing, suspend the charter of any BACCHUS affiliate, provided such affiliate shall be notified, by mail, at least ten days before any action is taken. The nature of the cause put forward for suspension of charter must be clearly documented.

Section 5. Any affiliate suspended by the President/CEO may appeal the termination to the next General Assembly by giving notice of appeal by mail to the Secretary of the BACCHUS Board of Trustees at least ten days prior to the General Assembly.

Section 6. The Board of Trustees may assess membership fees and dues for BACCHUS affiliates and national members, and may change or eliminate any such fees so long as all fees are applied uniformly to affiliates, and passed by a two thirds majority vote of the House of Delegates. Proposed changes must be distributed in writing to all affiliates a minimum of four months in advance of the General Assembly.
